EML Celebrating 40 Years!
As part of our 40th birthday celebrations, EML is proud to support Dave Day, a charity established in memory of the late Dave Myers, beloved TV chef and one half of the Hairy Bikers.
Adelle Hutton, a long-standing member of the EML team and Dave Day volunteer, did a brilliant job organising a charity football match that took place on Saturday 11 April at Bamber Bridge Football Club. The game featured an entertaining 11-a-side showdown between Dave’s Gold Stars and Team EML, with a goal of raising £15,000 for NSPCC Childline (Dave’s charity), to help provide vital support to children and young people.
About Dave’s Gold Stars
During Dave Day 2025, Adelle was asked to organise a team to play against ex-professionals and raised an amazing £18,000 for charity. Now chaired by Adelle, Dave’s Gold Stars (AKA The Hairy Strikers) continue to play and fundraise, wearing their EML-sponsored Hawaiian themed shirts in tribute to Dave’s vibrant style.
Dave Day 3 – The Last Ride Home
On Saturday 20 June 2026, EML-sponsored Dave’s Gold Stars FC will take on North West Community Stars FC in this year’s Dave Myers Memorial Trophy Match as part of Dave Day 3. The event forms part of a huge fundraising effort that will see tens of thousands of bikers ride from London to Dave’s hometown of Barrow-in-Furness, raising funds for NSPCC Childline and local causes in Barrow. The match will take place at Holker Old Boys FC in Barrow, with gates opening at 10.00am and kick-off at 12.00pm. Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy an afternoon of football, fundraising and community spirit before heading into Barrow to welcome the riders as they complete their journey. Match Day Highlights
The teams were led out by Chris Nagel, captain of Team EML and the match began following a minute’s applause in memory of Dave. Despite a strong first half and tight score line at the break, Team EML were ultimately outplayed with The Hairy Strikers pulling away to secure a 7-3 victory in the Corporate Cup.Â
A Day to Remember
The day also featured a raffle, tombola and auction packed with fantastic prizes generously donated by our clients, alongside plenty of activities to keep our younger guests entertained, including a half-time penalty shootout and hoopla. The evening continued with a live acoustic set followed by a disco, drawing everyone onto the dance floor to celebrate into the night. It was a brilliant day all round and while we fell short of our target, we were proud to have raised just over £7,200 for Dave Day and NSPCC Childline.
