There have been a number of exciting team developments at EML over recent weeks. We’ve strengthened our service offering by welcoming two new consultants, and also said (a partial) goodbye to one of our longest serving employees.
Garry Humphreys
Garry Humphreys CIPD joined the team in June as HR Consultant. A specialist in employee relations cases, Garry has extensive experience in HR, employment law, training and recruitment across a range of sectors, including retail, sales, teaching and hospitality.
Garry says, “I’m thrilled to join the EML team. I love having the freedom to offer personalised support to clients, knowing the support I provide makes a real difference to the organisations we work with.”
Paul Ritchie CMIOSH is a hugely experienced H&S Consultant, having specialised in health and safety for over 27 years. He boasts an impressive knowledge of all aspects of health and safety legislation including risk assessments, manual handling, COSHH, fire safety, and working at height. He is an experienced trainer in his field and has worked internationally in diverse and culturally challenging environments.
Paul Ritchie
Paul says, “Health and safety is a complex ever-changing area but I prefer to look for solutions rather than see problems. I hope to bring a new perspective on health and safety obligations to our clients and I’m delighted to join an already successful team.”
Both Paul and Garry are big fans of exercise and fitness. Paul has been known to compete in triathlons, whilst Garry enjoys running and cycling when his young family allows. Paul is a huge fan of motorsport and volunteers as a Formula 1 track recovery steward in his spare time.
Grahame Barker
In October, we reluctantly said a semi-permanent goodbye to H&S Consultant Grahame Barker. Grahame, who has been with EML for 16 years, is now in semi-retirement but will continue to provide support to some clients on a part-time consultancy basis. He is responsible for taking many a client on a health and safety journey and his calming, caring and friendly presence will be missed in the office.
Grahame says, “I’d like to say a big Thank You to the EML team and all the clients I’ve worked with over the years. I will miss the friendships we’ve built, but I can assure you, you are in safe hands with Paul Ritchie.”
Director and Head of HR, Chris Nagel says, “These new appointments ensure our team is set up for success in 2019. We are delighted to welcome Garry and Paul to the team. Their qualifications and experience are a great asset and will add value to our client service offering. Just as important though is their down-to-earth, no-nonsense approach and ability to recognise the wider commercial objectives of our clients. Regarding Grahame, Debbie and I would like to thank him for his 16 years of service and for the continued commitment he shows to our clients. He leaves behind a strong legacy and some big shoes to fill.”
