employment tribunal decisions

Selected employment tribunal decisions now freely accessible online

The Government has established a new webpage with links to recent employment tribunal decisions. It provides access to first-instance judgments from England, Wales and Scotland via a free-text search and drop-down menus.

Previously, such decisions were only accessible by attendance in person at the Bury St Edmunds regional office. There is currently a selection of decisions from the last 3 years, although HM Courts and Tribunals Service has already stated that there are no plans to make older decisions available online.

Chris Nagel, Director / Head of HR at EML comments…

“Unlike decisions at Employment Appeal Tribunal (level and upwards, first-instance decisions and are not binding in respect of future decisions. However, they can be useful for reference purposes and this new increased accessibility is likely to encourage employers to seek settlement as a means of reducing the risk of bad publicity.”

At Employee Management Ltd, our HR support consultants provide commercially minded employment law advice and bespoke HR services that can actively reduce your organisation’s exposure to litigation. We also offer a comprehensive employment tribunal representation service through which we can handle any claims you do receive. If you are an employer facing employment issues which could result in litigation, please feel free to contact us for a confidential, no-obligation discussion.
