Jo is a chartered member of the CIPD and brings to EML a wealth of HR and training experience across various sectors including manufacturing, construction and warehousing and distribution. She is an accomplished and driven HR professional with particular experience in devising and implementing effective people strategies and strengthening talent to improve leadership and organisational performance. Jo is also a trained facilitator and is PTLLS qualified (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector), a nationally accredited teaching qualification. With a strong belief in empowerment and collaboration, Jo is passionate about delivering training and coaching individuals to help them reach their potential.
Before joining EML, Jo spent 3 years working as a HR Growth Coach, supporting HR professionals and senior managers. Prior to that, she worked in various HR roles across a range of businesses, including Regional HR Manager for a large manufacturing company, and HR Manager for a UK leading housing and care provider. Throughout her career in HR, Jo has been heavily involved in the design and delivery of training such as Modern Slavery and Labour Exploitation, Recruitment and Selection, and other HR related topics. She has also worked with Senior Leadership Teams on soft skills such as motivation, implementing mentorships, managing apprentices, communication skills and change management.
Jo is EML’s ‘Outplacement’ expert and has many years’ experience supporting employees affected by redundancy or retirement. She is passionate about providing a personalised, bespoke service to our clients so that outgoing employees can confidently navigate the job market or make the transition from employment to retirement. Jo is an accredited DISC practitioner which is a practice used to help interpret, communicate and understand people’s personalities and behaviour in the workplace through statistical analysis of graph combinations. She is also an accredited NLP Practitioner (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), another coaching tool used to change behaviour and beliefs, and enjoys supporting our clients to successfully help individuals and organisations achieve personal and professional goals.
Outside of work, Jo is a busy mum of 1 who enjoys walking her Japanese Akita named Yoshi (or does he walk her!), and is captain and treasurer of her local netball team. Jo is also an associate and volunteer for ‘Mummy’s Star’, a unique charity providing dedicated cancer support to women and their families in the UK and Ireland.
Fun fact: Jo is a keen fund raiser and has raised over £60,000 for charity!
