This year, EML reaches an incredible milestone of 40 years. To mark the occasion, we’re celebrating in a way that reflects what matters to us – community, collaboration and making a positive difference.
As part of our celebrations, EML is proud to support Dave Day, a charity set-up in memory of the late Dave Myers – beloved TV chef and one half of the hairy bikers. Dave Day features the iconic motorbike procession from London to Barrow (Dave’s hometown) as part of fundraising activities and brings communities together to spread hope and happiness and remember Dave and the loved ones we have lost.
A match-day with a purpose
Adelle Hutton, a long-standing member of the EML team and Dave Day volunteer, is organising a charity football match that will take place on Saturday 11 April.
Dave’s Gold Stars (AKA The Hairy Strikers) will take on Team EML in an 11-a-side showdown at Bamber Bridge FC, kicking off at 2:00pm. Our goal is to raise £15,000 for NSPCC Childline (Dave’s charity), to help provide vital support to children and young people.
Preparation and teamwork are key to making the day a success. Players from both teams will have the opportunity to attend a training session on Sunday 8 March at Bamber Bridge FC, led by Jamie Milligan, current Bamber Bridge FC manager and former Everton, Blackpool and Fleetwood Town player.
An awards presentation will follow the match before celebrations continue into the evening with a hot buffet and entertainment in the club lounge. We’re delighted to welcome Tony Green, former Albion Rovers, Newcastle United and Blackpool FC player, as our after-dinner speaker who will be sharing stories, insights and plenty of laughs from his time in the game. We’re also honoured that Dave’s wife, Liliana Myers, will be joining us to cheer from the sidelines and collect the funds raised on behalf of Dave Day.
The story of Dave’s Gold Stars
What started as a one-off charity football match during Dave Day 2025, quickly grew into something much bigger. Adelle was asked to organise a team to play against ex-professional footballers to raise money for charity…and Dave’s Gold Star’s was born.
The match raised a phenomenal £18,000 but the players, including EML’s Director and Head of HR Chris Nagel, wanted to keep the momentum going and continue to play today, raising money for worthy causes. Now, Adelle serves as chairperson for Dave’s Gold Stars with EML proudly sponsoring their colourful Hawaiian shirts in homage to Dave’s vibrant style. A perfect example of how teamwork, dedication and a bit of fun can make a difference.
Scoring goals together
We need your help!
We’ve already secured some players for Team EML but we’re looking to recruit more. This is where our clients, partners and wider network can get involved. We’re inviting organisations who are passionate about giving back to nominate a member of their team who are competitive on the pitch to help Team EML tackle Dave’s Gold Stars.
It’s a pay-to-play fixture with a minimum sponsorship commitment of £500 per player but in return for their generosity, participating organisations will benefit from:
- Exposure across pre-event marketing
- Match-day promotional activity
- Opportunity to align with a charitable cause
- A team building experience that goes beyond the workplace
Not everyone needs to play to be part of the action, there are other ways to get involved. From pitch-side advertising to donating raffle prizes, sponsoring trophies or simply joining us on the day, everyone is welcome.
Making a difference beyond the celebrations
As a HR consultancy, we see every day how purpose strengthens teams, boosts engagement and creates a lasting impact and this event is a reminder that when organisations come together, we can achieve far more.
If you’d like to take part in something truly special and help EML celebrate 40 years while supporting an incredible cause, we’d love to hear from you. Find out how to get involved here: EML’s Charity Football Match or get in touch on 01942 727200 or at enquiries@employeemanagement.co.uk
