In 2026, EML proudly celebrates its 40th Birthday and we’re marking this milestone in spectacular style!
To commemorate the occasion, we’re supporting Dave Day – an annual charity fundraising event held in memory of the late Dave Myers, beloved TV chef and one half of the Hairy Bikers. Our very own Adelle Hutton, a seasoned Dave Day volunteer, is organising a charity football match: Dave’s Gold Stars (AKA The Hairy Strikers) v Team EML, with a target of raising £15,000 for NSPCC Childline.
The match takes place on Saturday 11 April 2026 at Bamber Bridge FC, kicking off at 2:00pm for an unforgettable 11-a-side showdown. An awards presentation will follow at 4:30pm before the celebrations continue into the evening with a hot buffet and entertainment in the club lounge.
We’re delighted to welcome Tony Green, former Albion Rovers, Newcastle United and Blackpool FC player, as our after-dinner speaker who will be sharing stories, insights and plenty of laughs from his time in the game. Liliana Myers, Dave’s wife, will also be joining us on the day to collect funds raised on behalf of Dave Day.
On Sunday 8th March, some of the players took part in a training session at Buckshaw AstroTurf where Jamie Milligan, current Bamber Bridge FC Manager and former Everton, Blackpool and Fleetwood Town player, put the lads through their paces!
We’ve already secured players to represent Team EML but we’re looking for subs!
If you or any of your employees are competitive on the pitch and would like to get involved, we’d love to hear from you. But there is a catch – it’s a pay-to-play fixture with a minimum sponsorship commitment of £500 per player. Every contribution will help make a meaningful difference to children in need and in return for your generosity, participating companies will receive exposure across pre-event marketing and match-day promotional activity.
