EML strive to make a positive impact in the local community – connecting individuals, companies and organisations to help build stronger communities and improve life’s misfortunes. As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility programme, we endeavour to make a concerted effort to foster community engagement and actively support a number of charities.
EML are proud to support Blessing in Disguise, a children’s charity based in Wigan which provides much needed support for terminally ill, disabled and disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. The charity helps to create positive changes for children and their families/carers by raising funds through events and donations and relies heavily on support from the local community and national businesses. Blessing in Disguise has been our chosen charity for a number of years now, which we support with an annual donation.
Joseph’s Goal is a local charity that supports research for improved treatments and ultimately a cure for Non-Ketotic Hyperglycinemia (NKH). Joseph Kendrick was given just ten days to live when he was born and is now 14 years old. He suffers from NKH, an extremely rare, life-limiting genetic disorder that severely affects development. For the last few years, EML has supported ‘Joe’s Jumper Day’ by hosting a Christmas jumper day and charity cake sale to help raise funds and increase awareness of NKH.
As part of our pledge to foster community engagement, EML are proud sponsors of Timperley Wizards U15’s, a local youth football team with Timperley Villa. Sponsorship at grassroots level is fundamental in helping to contribute towards the costs of kits and pitches etc, rather than relying on subscriptions alone, and ultimately provides more opportunities for children to play football.
EML are also proud to support our team who are actively involved in volunteering roles within their communities. Volunteering is a great way to make a difference and give something back, allowing people to connect with their community and make it a better place.
Some of the charities our team volunteer for include NEO Community – key providers of food assistance and support throughout the Wirral community, Age UK Telephone Friendship Service – to combat loneliness amongst older people who miss the joy of regular conversation, Association of Breastfeeding Mothers – providing help and support to breastfeeding mothers and their partners on related issues, Headlines Craniofacial Support – a national charity providing practical support and information to people affected by craniosynostosis and other rare craniofacial conditions and Mummy’s Star – the only charity in the UK and Ireland dedicated to women and birthing people diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy or within 12 months of giving birth. Some of our team also volunteer for their local grassroots teams and organisations where their children are actively involved – Timperley Wizards, Astley & Tyldesley Tigers and IndepenDANCE, a Warrington based dance company.
